Toluene diisocyanate has two isomers: 2, 4-toluene diisocyanate and 2, 6-toluene diisocyanate (TDI). There are three specifications in the industry according to the content of the two isomers, and TDI-80/20 is the most common one. It is a light yellow liquid with a pungent smell and darkens in light. Reacting with water to produce carbon dioxide is one of the key reactions in the manufacturing process of polyurethane foam plastics.
